Fernando Alonso Reveals Points Record Helmet for Indian GP; Not a Real Record

Fernando Alonso took to Twitter this afternoon to reveal that he will wear a custom-designed helmet for the Indian Grand Prix. The Spaniard will wear the helmet to mark his achievement last time out in Japan, where he took his total points tally in Formula 1 to 1571—a new record. The previous record belonged to Michael Schumacher with 1566. That said, as far as achievements go, it's a relatively hollow one. The only reason that Alonso now holds the record is because F1 switched from 10 points for a victory to 25 in 2010. As a result, most of Schumacher's points were garnered under the old scoring system.
