Indianapolis 500 Sees Pole-Sitter Alex Tagliani Damage His Car Before the the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500, Alex Tagliani was looking good, grabbing the pole position with a time of 227.472.But with just over 50 laps remaining Sunday, Tagliani saw his chances of winning the title come to an end after scraping the wall on Turn 4 while trying to pass JR Hildebrand.The turn left Tagliani's No. 77 Sam Schmidt Motorsports car with a damaged right front axle and forced him to withdraw from the race.Said Tagliani, via AJC.com:"We lost the rear of the car.
