Scott Dixon Tops Tuesday Indianapolis 500 Practice

With 50 percent of the field separated by half a second, it was a close battle on the track Tuesday in the Indianapolis 500 practice from the Brickyard. Drivers and teams got a chance to get on the track after a rainy day on Monday. Scott Dixon in the Target Chip Ganassi Racing No. 9 car was fastest with a lap of 39.72 at 226.549 miles per hour around the Indy oval—ahead of Mario Moraes who was second but crashed late in the practice. Marco Andretti, Alex Tagliani, and Dan Wheldon round out the top five from Tuesday. EJ Viso crashed his No. 8 PDVSA KV Racing Technology car hard going into Turn One late in practice.
