Why Jimmie Johnson Is NOT the Athlete of the Year

News broke today that NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson had been awarded the AP Male Athlete of the Year award.  Johnson became the first race car driver to win the award in its 78-year history since it has been handed out.  He had quite the year in 2009, winning his fourth straight NASCAR Championship, something no other driver had ever accomplished.  He won four of seven races he drove in and in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, finished outside the top ten just once.
