4’4″ Rico Abreu Captures 1st Stock-Car Victory of His Career at NAPA 150

Independence Day 2015 is a day that Rico Abreu will never forget. The 23-year-old Abreu won the pole at the NAPA 150 at Columbus Motor Speedway and then beat 21 other drivers on Saturday to get his first stock-car win. The victory came in just his seventh career start. While any victory would be notable for a driver, this one has a bit of a backstory. The 4'4" Abreu was born with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder that is the most common cause of dwarfism. According to ESPN.com, Abreu's car has been modified in order to accommodate the driver: "Pedals and the steering column are extended and his racing seat uses less room behind it, but that's it.
