5 Things We Learned from Day 1 of the 1st 2016 Formula 1 Pre-Season Test

Sebastian Vettel set the pace on the opening day of testing ahead of the 2016 Formula One season, but the big news coming out of Spain had little to do with timing and everything to do with distance. Ferrari driver Vettel lapped the Circuit de Catalunya in a time of one minute, 24.939 seconds—half a second quicker than the next-best driver. But the four-time world champion only managed 69 tours of the circuit; Lewis Hamilton, driving his Mercedes W07 for the first time, did 156 laps.
