Assessing Fernando Alonso’s Performances in 2013: How Close to His Best Is He?

I recently assessed Fernando Alonso’s season so far at the halfway point of the 2013 season, and my conclusion was that he was my driver of the year to date. That was before another stellar drive in Belgium that saw him finish second behind you know who. His drive went some way to reinforcing my opinion, and that of many others, that Alonso is arguably the most complete driver on the grid and very close to the best he can be.
