After an exciting end to last weekend’s Daytona 500, the Auto Club 500 wasn’t able to follow in their footsteps. But it did have a few exciting moments when rain threatened, and then came down, to halt the race for a few laps.
Teams began playing the rain game and the lead changed hands three times before the race was restarted. Denny Hamlin had it when it started to rain before having to pit for fuel, then Scott Speed inherited the lead before pitting for fuel, and Jeff Burton took the top spot as the race saw the green flag again.Â
