One giant mistake and one golden horseshoe.
The 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350 would have been remembered as the day that Jimmie Johnson dominated and lost it at the end to Marcos Ambrose. Instead, it will be remembered as Ambrose giving Johnson another win.
While leading with nine laps to go, the caution came, erasing Ambrose's two second lead. He was told to conserve fuel and shut the engine off in case of the dreaded green/white/checkered finish. When he went to re-fire the engine going up the hill into turn one, the engine didn't start and the car came to a stop. Johnson and five others went past Ambrose before he got going.
NASCAR made the ruling that he didn't maintain cautious speed and moved him to the seventh position; Johnson too...
