Daytona 500: Dale Jr. Wrecks In Practice, To Start Dual and 500 at The Rear

During Wednesday's rain delayed first practice at Daytona, Dale Earnhardt Jr., the pole sitter for the 500, wrecked his primary car. The team is forced to pull out the backup car. Since his starting spot had already been guaranteed as a result of his qualifying time,  Earnhardt will start at the rear of the field in both the Gatorade Dual as well as the Daytona 500. While drafting with teammate Jimmie Johnson, the pair approached a slower pair of cars on the track. Johnson slowed up just enough to cause Earnhardt to get in the back of him.
