Vitaly Petrov, whose passport says he is Виталий Александрович Петров, has been introduced to the world as Robert Kubica's partner at Renault F1.
No doubt we all bid a warm welcome to the first Russian F1 driver, although there seems to be no doubt that Petrov got the seat at Renault at least partly because he is sponsored to the tune of E15M.
Those fronting up the cash are reported to be the giant state-owned Russian gas producer Gazprom and Russia's biggest bank Sberbank, which is also state-owned.
