Formula One will never see another driver like Gilles Villeneuve. The French Canadian made his debut in the 1977 British Grand Prix for McLaren. Despite an excellent display, McLaren overlooked him the following year in favour of Patrick Tambay; his career might have been over before it had even begun. But Enzo Ferrari saw something in him that McLaren had not, and in a little over four years with the Scuderia, Villeneuve established himself as one of the greatest raw talents the sport has ever seen.
