Mark Martin hasn't been the driver Rick Hendrick noticed back in 2009. And he doesn't quite have the marketability of Dale Earnhardt Jr.—Dale has a home whenever a team has a car without a driver, but Mark needs to perform well to keep a team.

So it's a good thing that at the current moment, he's the top non-Chase driver. A free pass to the awards ceremony in Las Vegas and a million dollars is just the kind of thing that keeps any driver in the public eye and a ride next year with somebody, anybody is almost surely on the table.
