NASCAR: Carl Edwards Signs Contract Extension with Roush Fenway Racing

NASCAR's biggest free agent is off the market.Carl Edwards has resigned with Roush Fenway Racing to a multi-year deal. This resolution to the uncertainty of his contract situation should help the points leader as he seeks his first Sprint Cup championship.Edwards turned down an offer from Joe Gibbs Racing, saying RFR provides "the resources I need to win." The 31-year-old driver came close to a championship in 2008, winning nine races and finishing second to Jimmie Johnson in the title hunt.Teammate Greg Biffle had noted a few days ago that it would be "best for everybody" if Edwards let his intentions be known so that sponsorship deals could be worked out.
