Rain Delays Indycar Race at St. Pete to Monday

Torrential downpours hit the streets of St. Petersburg shortly after the Indy Lights race, and washed out the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg for Sunday. Standing water was all over the track, as the rain continued and lightning lit up the sky.  Spectators were evacuated to covered areas, in a sign that the race would not be happening. The race has been rescheduled for Monday at 10 am eastern time, and will now be broadcast on ESPN2. Mother nature picked a bad time for the series, which was hoping to showcase its drivers and cars on network television for the first time this year.  A high ratings mark would have helped some teams struggling with sponsorship to convince potential partners to invest in them.
