Often a sensitive, spiritual man away from the track but always the most ferociously aggressive competitor on the tarmac, the enigmatic Brazilian caught the imagination of millions, including those with even the faintest interest in sport. A three-time world champion, Senna represented the Toleman, Lotus, McLaren and Williams teams, securing 65 pole positions and 41 grand prix victories until his premature death in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
