Why Greater Free-to-Air Coverage Is Essential to Secure Formula 1’s Future

Following Formula One can be an expensive business in many countries, and the United Kingdom is no exception. Live coverage of all the races is only available through a subscription to Sky Sports; according to the Guardian, the most basic version of this costs £564 per year. But UK viewers are fortunate in one respect—some races are shown on free-to-air TV. Channel 4 has taken over from the BBC as the broadcaster providing this service in 2016, and earlier this week, the channel announced the 10 races (of the total of 21) that it will be showing in 2016.
