NASCAR in Las Vegas: Jeff Gordon Cuts a Tire, Slams Wall, out of the Race

On lap 194, with green flag stops imminent, Jeff Gordon cut a right front tire, and slammed the wall. The result was heavy damage to the front and right side of Gordon's No. 24 Chevrolet. A wrecker was needed to haul Gordon's wounded race car back to the garage. Gordon was the circuits most recent winner, as he won last weekend at Phoenix. He was having a solid day on Sunday. He had led two laps very early in the event, and had been spending most of the day hanging around the bottom half of the top 10. Gordon's incident marks yet another problem for many of the days early favorites.
